Description
Commonly dispersed throughout the western Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean, cownose rays are a species of eagle ray that can grow to be just under four feet long. Although not particularly dangerous, cownose rays can use the barb on their tail to deliver a fairly weak toxin.

- Characteristics: Despite their potentially surprising sting, we promise this model is safe to touch! Like all Safari wildlife figurines, our cownose ray model was individually hand painted and crafted with life-like detail.
- Size and Color: 7.5 inches long and 7 inches wide, both dimensions of this figurine are about the same size as the height of a 16 oz. water bottle. Cownose rays are uniformly an olive brown color, although they can occasionally be lighter or darker shades.

History:
Did you know that cownose rays actually migrate? During the spring, cownose rays leave waters close to South and Central America and move into the north Atlantic, where they stay until the beginning of winter. The best explanation for the cownose ray’s migration would be the change in water temperature during the seasons. However, scientists have not yet determined if their migration also effects feeding or mating patterns.
