History
All three types of zebras are native to Africa, where they live in the east and south. Although they reside mostly in grasslands, some zebras make their homes in woodlands or even mountains. Related to horses and donkeys, zebras live in family groups of a male, several females, and offspring, but family groups often combine into massive herds for protection. The plains zebra is well established, its conservation status at least concern. However, other species of zebra are considered vulnerable because of diminished ranges due to land use.
