History

Aided by smooth bodies and an ideal shape, they zip through the water at nearly 20 miles an hour, and they can leap 16 feet into the air. Next, their hearing is incredible, as they can detect sounds 8 times higher than anything humans can hear. Echolocation is like a six sense for Dolphins, allowing them to sense both prey and predators. They project sound waves, which travel almost five times faster in water than they do in air, and the returning waves help them sense the size and location of creatures large and small up to several hundred feet away.
